Mr. Evan

Grade 7-8, 10-12

With over 13 years of experience tutoring and teaching students one-to-one and in small groups, Evan offers a highly relational approach to teaching English Language Arts that emphasizes the importance of authentic connection. While cultivating basic skills in studying literary texts and strengthening creative and essay writing, he challenges his students to think critically, communicate effectively, and engage with ideas passionately. Through his experience working with hundreds of High School and Junior High students, he has become versatile in his strategies for assessment and dynamic in his ability to respond to diverse areas of student need and interest.

Evan joined C&C Educenter in 2017 and has enjoyed specializing in working with a variety of students and skill levels. Whether your child needs help transitioning from ELL levels to more academic English Language Arts expectations, needs to improve grades, or needs more creativity and enrichment in their learning, Evan will meet students on their level and work with them to develop goals and chart a pathway for growth.

As of 2018, Evan has been teaching group classes and summer camps with C&C Educenter and has enjoyed creating content for Junior and Senior high essay writing, cultural studies, and public speaking courses. Through these fun and interactive courses, Evan coaches his students to work both individually and collaboratively. In pairs and small groups, students learn to engage in research, conversation, debate, share stories, and deliver speeches.

As an experienced writer, lover of literature, musical composer, piano player, and singer, Evan’s life-long curiosity and love of learning continue to fuel his passion for teaching. He holds an Honours Degree in English Literature from St. Mary’s University with a minor in Political Science and is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Education at the University of Calgary. He lives in central Calgary with his wife, Emily.
